Website: Baviett

This project was my first ever website project. The prompt was to create something that groups all the links to one place, and I guess I did just that. The project underwent a framework rework in February 2025 for me to learn more about Svelte and also optimising the workflow for future updates.

The first website and also the first project of mine came from my friend Baviet, who asked for a portfolio website that he was going to need the day after. This was 11pm when I received this message. Essentially I had a whole night and the next morning to complete this project. "What do you need?", "Just some where to put all the links in one place."

The first edition of the website was made using just HTML and CSS to create a static website. At the time, that was all that I could do. The website features a list of YouTube links and Vimeo links of all the videos that Baviet has been a part of its production, divided in to three categories depending on the role he was working as. The website was delivered on time, and Baviett was able to land his job using that exact website.

The website proved to be another learning experience when I wanted to learn about hosting. Using the same website, I learned to buy a domain name, and using it and hosting services to launch the website on said name. I guess it is not much for the normal programmer, but one has to start somewhere.

In 2025 Svelte changed to Svelte 5, with its updated syntax. Once again, I turned to this website as a way to gain more experience. Equipped with the newfound knowledge, I rewritten the whole website into Svelte 5. I am glad to have such a project and such a friend that allows me to learn so much, while also doing something of actual benefit for someone. This, to me, is the best way of learning.
